The Beach Reporter – July 31, 2003

Crime Watch (7/31) - Hermosa Beach

SCHOOL TRESPASSING. An unknown person reportedly broke into a school in the 400 block of 25th Street and slept on a couch between 7 p.m. July 22 and 7 a.m. July 23. Police found sand on the couch and old, dirty clothing most likely belonging to a transient.

HOTEL LOBBY THEFT. A laptop computer was reportedly stolen from a hotel lobby in the 2500 block of Pacific Coast Highway July 23 between the hours of 9 and 9:05 a.m. The victim placed her computer on her luggage and visited the hotel's dining room for a moment. She returned to find her computer and a tote bag missing. The stolen items are valued at $1,280.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD. A credit card belonging to a woman living on Hermosa Avenue was reportedly used fraudulently. The woman reported the use July 16 after her bank's fraud division contacted her about use of the card outside the area. The suspect charged $631 to her account.

CAR BURGLARY. A Jeep Wrangler parked in a garage in the 400 block of Herondo Street was reportedly burglarized between 7:30 p.m. July 10 and 8:45 a.m. July 11. The victim locked her car but told police her car's roof is a soft-top with zippers. The burglar(s) stole a stereo faceplate and a parking pass, all valued at $400.

CASH STOLEN. A man living in the 2400 block of Silverstrand Avenue reportedly called police after his son allegedly stole cash from both his and his roommate's wallets June 27. The victims reported the crime July 15. The suspect stole a total of $500 and a bottle of thyroid pills.


The Beach Reporter – July 24, 2003

Crime Watch (7/24) - Hermosa Beach

DOG STOLEN. A dog was reportedly stolen from the city's dog kennel in the 600 block of Valley Drive between 7 p.m. July 18 and 12:15 p.m. July 19. The city impounded the dog after it found it walking around town without a collar. The owner went to bail the dog out only to discover someone had stolen the dog from city property the day before.

BATTERY. A man reportedly assaulted his wife and a man who tried to help her July 3 at 11:04 p.m. near the corner of Beach Drive and 13th Street. According to police, the husband and wife got into a verbal argument and he pulled her hair. Three men walking by tried to intervene and the husband hit one of the men in the nose.

BATTERY. A woman reportedly hit another woman outside of her house in the 1700 block of Loma Drive July 18 at 4:15 p.m. According to police, the victim and her ex-husband share custody of their son who spent the night at his father's house the night before the incident. The ex-husband's new wife's sister dropped off the boy at his mother's house the next day. She and the mother got into a verbal argument, and the sister then hit the mother in the face.

GUN STOLEN. A handgun was reportedly stolen from a house in the 800 block of Manhattan Avenue between 10 a.m. July 10 and 3 p.m. July 14. The burglar(s) stole a Ruger handgun, its case and several magazines stored inside a cabinet attached to a fish aquarium. The gun and its items are valued at about $800.

BROKEN DOOR. A man reportedly broke the hydraulic door hinge of a bank in the 1900 block of Pacific Coast Highway July 19 at 12:36 p.m. The suspect tried to cash a check for about $300 and the teller asked for two forms of identification. The man could only produce one and the teller told him she could not cash the check. The man became angry and stormed out of the bank. He pushed open the door so hard it flew off its hinges. The man will now have to pay for the repairs estimated at about $350.


The Beach Reporter – July 17, 2003

Crime Watch (7/17) - Hermosa Beach

SUICIDE. A man reportedly took a suicide note from the bedroom of his dead friend in the 200 block of Second Street June 29 at 3:39 p.m. The suspect found his friend dead in his room with a plastic bag over his head. The man tampered with the scene when he took home his note before police and the coroner arrived on the scene.

CAR BURGLARY. A car parked in the 100 block of Ardmore Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 3 p.m. July 5 and 11:30 a.m. July 11. The thief stole a set of law books, a backpack, leather planner and several notebooks containing notes the victim characterized as priceless. The stolen items are valued at $280.

CAT BURGLARY. A home in the 400 block of 31st Street was reportedly burglarized while the victim was sleeping July 8 between the hours of midnight and 9 a.m. The victim woke up and found his front door and balcony doors ajar. The burglar stole his laptop computer.

SCHOOL THEFT. A classroom at Hermosa Valley School at 1600 Valley Drive was reportedly burglarized between 4 p.m. June 23 and July 7 at 9 a.m. The burglar broke into a classroom and stole a laptop computer.

HOME BURGLARY. A house on Pacific Coast Highway was reportedly burglarized July 7 between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. The burglar pried open the front door and ransacked the victim's bedroom, stealing $100 in cash and a computer.


The Beach Reporter – July 10, 2003

Crime Watch (7/10) - Hermosa Beach

COUNTERFEIT CHECKS. A woman reportedly paid for merchandise and received cash back using a fake traveler's check from a business in the 1000 block of Hermosa Avenue June 12 between the hours of noon and 3 p.m. The woman bought $47 worth of merchandise and received $53 in return when using a $100 traveler's check.

STOLEN BIKES. Three bicycles were reportedly stolen from a garage in the 100 block of Hermosa Avenue between June 18 at 8 a.m. and June 29 at 1 a.m. The three bikes are worth $1,500.

CAR BURGLARY. A car parked in the 2000 block of Pacific Coast Highway was reportedly burglarized between 5:30 p.m. June 30 and 7 a.m. July 1. The burglar broke a window and stole several items.

HAIR PULLED. A man was arrested for reportedly pulling a chunk of hair from his girlfriend's head at their home in the 600 block of 11th Street June 30 at 10:48 p.m. The suspect and victim got into a verbal argument and the victim walked into the other room to sleep on the couch. The man then pulled a chunk of her hair out by the roots. The man said he drank 1-1/2 quarts of hard liquor.

CAR BURGLARY. A man was arrested for burglarizing a car in a garage in the 2000 block of Hermosa Avenue July 2 at 2:20 p.m. A witness saw the suspect sneak into the garage. The car had been ransacked with the stereo on the floor and the car's gear shifted in drive.


The Beach Reporter – July 3, 2003

Crime Watch 7/3 - Hermosa Beach

BANK ERROR. A man reportedly withdrew $6,000 in cash from his bank account in the 1300 block of Hermosa Avenue that did not belong to him June 18 at 9:28 a.m. According to police, another bank customer deposited the amount into their bank account but it was routed to the suspect's account by mistake. Both bank employees and police officers have tried contacting the suspect but he has not returned phone calls and recently left his residence.

HOME BURGLARY. A home on Pacific Coast Highway was reportedly burglarized between 2 a.m. June 18 and 2:45 p.m. June 23. The burglar, whom the victims believe is a neighbor, stole $3,000 in cash and a can of coins. The victim noticed his money missing from a wooden box and talked to his roommate who is his brother. The money is an accumulation of tips from work. The victim's brother then realized he remembered seeing a cereal bowl in his room that didn't belong in the house. They recognized it as being their neighbor's whom they've never invited over to their residence. This neighbor is known as a "druggie" and may have entered the home through the front door or window that the victims usually leave unlocked.

STOLEN BICYCLE. A bike was reportedly stolen out of a garage in the 100 block of 35th Street June 28 between the hours of 6:20 and 7 p.m. The bike is worth $500.

STOLEN BACKPACK. A backpack was reportedly stolen outside of a business on 13th Street June 24 at 3:40 p.m. The victim left her backpack containing numerous items outside the business for a moment while she went inside.

BROKEN CAR MIRROR. A male juvenile reportedly vandalized a car parked in the 100 block of 14th Street June 25 at 2:11 a.m. A witness heard some noises from the street, looked out his window and saw one of four boys break off the car's left side mirror. Police detained the suspect, who was intoxicated.


The Beach Reporter – June 26, 2003

Crime Watch 6/26 - Hermosa Beach

PULLING PLANTS. A man reportedly vandalized a home June 13 at 9:55 p.m. and assaulted his neighbor June 16 at 5 p.m. in the 200 block of Monterey Boulevard. According to the victims, the suspect pulled out several plants from their front yard. The victims called police to report the incident. Several days later, the suspect confronted one of the victims, threatened her and pushed her to the ground.

CAR BURGLARY. A Subaru wagon parked in the 1500 block of Pacific Coast Highway was reportedly burglarized June 8 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:10 p.m. The burglar broke into the car using a lock pick.

LATE NIGHT BATTERY. A man reportedly assaulted a woman in the 1200 block of Monterey Boulevard June 6 between the hours of 2:30 and 3:15 a.m. Both the victim and the suspect met at a friend's house and both had been drinking. The two left together and drove to the suspect's home to drink. The woman got tired and lay down on the couch. The suspect followed and began to unbutton her shirt. She allowed him to until he began touching her breasts. The woman told him she didn't want to go any further, and the man stopped and became angry. The man then told her to leave. The woman gathered her belongings and the man pushed her out of his house. She then turned around and slapped him. She later realized she might have left her cellular phone inside his car. The woman asked the man if she could search the car, and while she did the man pushed her out of the way and knocked her to the ground. She later called police and officers arrived at the man's house but could not find the phone.

CAR BURGLARY. A 2000 Land Rover parked in the 200 block of 30th Street was reportedly burglarized June 9 between 2 and 9 a.m. The victim parked his car in the garage and left the car unlocked. He later found his car ransacked inside and discovered several items had been stolen.

ATTEMPTED HOME BURGLARY. A man reportedly tried to break into a house on 11th Court June 10 at 9 p.m. A neighbor standing outside his house saw the burglar trying to pry open the front door with a screwdriver. The neighbor confronted the suspect and asked him what he was doing. The suspect told the man he knew the owner, but then fled the scene.


The Beach Reporter – June 19, 2003

Crime Watch (6/19) - Hermosa Beach

STOLEN STATUE. A bronze sculpture was reportedly stolen from a home in the 500 block of The Strand between 7 p.m. June 15 and 8:15 a.m. June 16. The 3-foot tall sculpture is of a man and woman, and is valued at $15,000.

DOMESTIC BATTERY. Police arrested a man after he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend inside her apartment in the 1100 block of Hermosa Avenue June 9 at 4 a.m. The woman told police she is in the process of ending her two-year relationship with the suspect who has been living with her. The suspect came over to her home to retrieve some of his belongings. She believes he had been drinking since he became verbally abusive and flipped over the mattress she was lying on. He then threw one of her small dogs against the wall. The woman tried to call her brother but the suspect ripped the phone out of the wall. She then ran to the kitchen to call 911 and the man then ripped that phone out of the wall. Police arrested the man and tracked down the woman who had fled her home.

CAR BURGLARY. A 1999 Honda Accord parked on Fifth Street was reportedly burglarized between 4 p.m. June 9 and 2 p.m. June 10. The burglar(s) stole clothing, two check radars and several other items all valued at approximately $3,600.

HOME BURGLARY. A house in the 2200 block of Valley Drive was reportedly burglarized between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. June 6. The burglar(s) knocked down the front door and ransacked the bedroom, stealing a Glock semiautomatic pistol and jewelry. The total value of the items stolen is about $1,700.

PARKING ATTENDANT HIT. A man reportedly hit an attendant in the face in a public parking structure located in the 1300 block of Hermosa Avenue June 8 at 10:28 p.m. The suspect refused to pay his $12 parking rate and became verbally abusive to the attendant. The suspect then opened his car door into the victim's legs and hit him in the face with a closed fist. The suspect broke the victim's pair of glasses he was wearing at the time.


The Beach Reporter – June 12, 2003

Crime Watch (6/12) - Hermosa Beach

MOTORCYCLE BURGLARY. A man reportedly walked into a motorcycle store in the 400 block of Pacific Coast Highway and stole a mini motorcycle from the display podium in the window May 24 at 1 p.m. The owner saw the suspect leave and then saw a green pickup speed away.

CAR BURGLARY. A car parked in an underground parking structure in the 400 block of Fifth Street was reportedly burglarized between 6 p.m. May 30 and 11 a.m. May 31. The burglar(s) used a metal rod to unlock the car through a window that was left open about 1 inch. The car was ransacked and several items were missing including a briefcase and an address book. The total loss was $57.

SMASHED WINDOW. An unknown person reportedly smashed a car window in the 900 block of Aviation Boulevard with a slingshot June 4 at 1:15 p.m. The victim was driving his car east on the street when his window shattered.

LONGFELLOW BURGLARY. A car parked in a garage on Longfellow Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 6 p.m. June 2 and 5:50 a.m. June 3. The burglar(s) entered the house's courtyard, broke into the garage and stole a Mobil Speed Pass card from a car parked inside.

CAR BURGLARY. A car parked on Valley Drive was reportedly burglarized between June 2 and 3. The victim was on vacation but the victim's roommate checked on the car, noticed one of the car's doors ajar, and saw the burglar(s) had stolen the car's stereo and two speakers.


The Beach Reporter – June 5, 2003

Crime Watch (6/5) - Hermosa Beach

CAR BURGLARY. A 1996 BMW parked in the 1700 block of Ardmore Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 6:30 p.m. May 30 and 7:15 a.m. May 31. The burglar(s) cut through the car's soft convertible top and stole its stereo.

GRAND THEFT. A 2000 Toyota truck was reportedly burglarized May 29 between the hours of 5:30 and 6 p.m. The burglar(s) entered the unlocked car, and stole a bag of tools and a tackle box valued at $900.

BATTERY. Two men reportedly assaulted another man in a parking lot in the 400 block of Pacific Coast Highway May 28 at 2:05 a.m. The three men got into a verbal argument inside a local convenience store and the two suspects pushed the victim outside. They hit him in the face with closed fists and the victim ran away to call 911 from a nearby pay phone. The two suspects chased after him, and began to hit and kick him again. The suspects fled the scene when a nearby neighbor walked outside.

GRAND THEFT. A Dewey Weber surfboard and a bicycle were reportedly stolen from an enclosed patio of a house in the 1600 block of The Strand between 11 p.m. May 25 and 5 a.m. May 26. The stolen items are valued at $740.

CAR BURGLARY. A 1996 Acura Integra parked in the 700 block of Pacific Coast Highway was reportedly burglarized between 10 p.m. May 20 and 6 a.m. May 31. The burglar(s) stole the car's stereo, a computer laptop, speakers and an amp. The stolen items are valued at about $1,800.


The Beach Reporter – May 30, 2003

Crime Watch (5/30) - Hermosa Beach

JAIL CELL DEMOLITION. A man who was arrested for public intoxication, was charged with reportedly damaging one of the city's jail cells May 17 between the hours of 10:45 p.m. and 4:45 a.m. Police placed the man in the cell alone and later found a pile of broken cement near the cell's toilet. The man told officers he tried to remodel the floor for a smoother finish. Officers conducted a alcohol breath test and the man had a blood-alcohol level of .12 percent.

LODGED BULLET. An unknown person reportedly fired a gun from an unknown location into the window of a home in the 700 block of Ninth Street May 16 between the hours of 5 and 5:15 p.m. The victim was asleep on the couch when he awoke to a loud bang. He then noticed that a window was broken in his home and later discovered a bullet lodged in the window's frame.

HOME BURGLARY. A home in the 2600 block of Hermosa Avenue was reportedly burglarized May 19 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The burglar(s) ransacked the bedroom and stole several pieces of jewelry valued at about $1,000.

PARKING LOT FIGHT. Two men were reportedly hit in the face by another man May 21 at 1 a.m. in a parking lot at the corner of Hermosa Avenue and 11th Street. One of the victims accidentally bumped shoulders with the suspect and they exchanged words. The suspect then hit the victim in the eye with a closed fist. The second man came to his aid, and the suspect then hit him in the nose and fled the scene.

VAN BURGLARY. A van parked in the a public lot at the corner of Valley Drive and Eighth Street was reportedly burglarized May 7 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The burglar(s) smashed one of the van's windows and stole several items including a CD player, watch, book of CDs and throwing knives. The stolen items are valued at $1,300.

The Beach Reporter – May 22, 2003

Crime Watch (5/22) - Hermosa Beach

BAR KNOCKOUT. A man was reportedly knocked unconscious by another man inside a bar located on the pier plaza May 11 at 8:27 p.m. The victim who was dancing with a friend saw a plate of French fries at a table occupied by two men. The victim, who was hungry, asked if he could have some and the men agreed. The victim then reached for a second helping, and one of the men hit him and left through the back door of the bar.

SWEEPSTAKES SCAM. A woman living in the 900 block of 14th Street was reportedly the victim of an attempted phone scam May 1 at 9 a.m. According to police, the suspect called the victim and told her she had won $2.5 million in an International Sweepstakes contest. The suspect told her she would have to pay the taxes on it in order to collect her winnings. The suspect said two armed guards would arrive at her home to collect the money and would then give her a check. The woman called police after getting off the phone with the suspect.

INCENDIARY DEVICE. A 14-year-old boy was reportedly attempting to light an incendiary device in his back yard in the 800 block of Ninth Street May 12 at 4:20 p.m. A woman saw the boy in his back yard from her second-story window attempting to light on fire a plastic tube filled with paint thinner and paint. She recognized the boy because he was named as a suspect in an arson case against her three years ago.

DOWNTOWN FIGHT. A man trying to break up a fight was reportedly hit in the face by one of the men involved in the altercation in the 1100 block of Hermosa Avenue May 10 at 2:08 a.m. The suspect knocked out two false teeth from the victim's mouth and cut his bottom lip.

WAVING A KNIFE. A man was arrested for reportedly waving around a large knife in a threatening manner to a group of young adults May 17 at 3:09 a.m. near the corner of Second Street and Beach Drive. The suspect was upset at the group of seven victims, mostly kids in their late teens, who were talking loudly. He yelled at them to be quiet and then eventually walked out of his home with the knife, and continued to yell at them.

The Beach Reporter – May 15, 2003

Crime Watch (5/15) - Hermosa Beach

ATTEMPTED BREAK-IN. A window of a home in the 2100 block of Circle Drive was reportedly broken in a burglary attempt between 8 p.m. May 3 and 8 a.m. May 5. The house is currently in escrow and contains nothing of value inside.

CHUGGING BOOZE. A man reportedly walked into a grocery store in the 700 block of Pier Avenue May 4 at 8:22 a.m. and drank a bottle of cognac in the restroom without paying for it. According to police, the man was arrested after an employee saw him take a bottle of Alize from the shelf and walk into the store's bathroom. Officers arrived and the suspect got into a physical fight with them. The bottle of alcohol was valued at $17.

BATTERY OF A POLICE OFFICER. A woman was arrested after reportedly hitting a police officer in the face with a closed fist on the pier plaza May 4 at 1:01 a.m. The officer arrived on the scene to break up a fight involving about 15 subjects, mostly men. The woman attacked the officer and punched him in the nose while he was breaking up the fight.

DINE AND DASH. A man was arrested after he and a friend reportedly ate at a restaurant in the 1000 block of Pacific Coast Highway and left the establishment without paying May 3 at 2:55 p.m. The two men ordered food, ate it and left without paying for it. Police arrested one of the suspects near the city's Community Center.

DRINKING GLASS ATTACK. A man was reportedly arrested for hitting another man in the face with a drinking glass at a bar in the 1300 block of Hermosa Avenue May 3 at 1:37 a.m. According to police, the two men got into a verbal argument and the victim hit the suspect, The suspect retaliated by hitting him with a glass, causing a cut to his forehead and cheek.

The Beach Reporter – May 8, 2003

Crime Watch (5/8) - Hermosa Beach

JAPANESE YEN STOLEN. Approximately 54,000 Japanese yen were reportedly stolen from a man's wallet in an establishment on the pier plaza May 3 between the hours of 1:30 and 2:10 a.m. The victim, who is staying at a youth hostel on the plaza, left his wallet on a staircase and returned to find his money gone. The 54,000 yen is the equivalent of $400 U.S.

CORONA BURGLARY. A car in the 1200 block of Corona Street was reportedly burglarized May 1 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The burglar(s) first attempted to break into the victim's home by breaking a window in the bedroom. The victim believes his soon-to-be ex-wife is responsible for the crime.

GROCERY STORE THEFT. A man was arrested after stealing a shopping cart full of goods from a grocery store in the 700 block of Pier Avenue May 2 at 3:15 p.m. The thief walked out of the store with his stolen goods and an employee chased after him. The suspect then left the items in the parking lot and fled the scene. The employee chased after him and caught up with him near the 1800 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Police met both men in the area and arrested the suspect. The stolen items were valued at about $290.

STOLEN JERSEY. A man reportedly stole a sports jersey from a home on 16th Street between 6 a.m. April 26 and 10:42 p.m. April 28. According to police, the suspect was staying the home with the permission of one of the victim's roommates. The victim took off the jersey and left it at home. He later saw the suspect talking on a pay phone at a local store wearing it.

ANNOYING PHONE CALLS. An unknown person has reportedly made annoying phone calls to a man living in the 500 block of Prospect Avenue from March 26 through April 30. The suspect calls and hangs up. The victim called his phone company and made a formal complaint.

The Beach Reporter – May 1, 2003

Crime Watch (5/1) - Hermosa Beach

STOLEN COMPUTER. A computer was reportedly stolen from an office in the 900 block of Aviation Boulevard April 24 between 10:15 and 10:40 a.m. The victim went out for coffee and returned to find his computer missing. The victim believes a co-worker whom he's having issues with stole it.

ASSAULT. A man reportedly hit another man in the 400 block of Pacific Coast Highway April 22 between 9:43 and 9:48 p.m. A witness saw the two men inside a nearby laundry who apparently knew each other and began talking in a causal manner. The two men left the business, and the witness left minutes later and found the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The victim had been drinking and sustained a laceration to his head.

BAD CHECK. A man reportedly wrote a bad check to a business in the 3100 block of Pacific Coast Highway Jan. 3. The victim reported it to police April 8. The suspect wrote a check for nearly $1,200 that came back returned.

HOME BURGLARY. A home on Monterey Boulevard was reportedly burglarized April 22 between 5 and 6 p.m. According to the victim, his on-and-off-again girlfriend arrived at the home with an unidentified man and barged into the home when the victim opened the front door. The two suspects stole numerous items including DVDs, binoculars, cameras, camcorders, a VCR, a skateboard, a printer and construction tools. The stolen items were valued at about $2,800.

CAR BURGLARY. A car parked in an underground private garage was reportedly burglarized between 5 a.m. April 15 and 3:45 p.m. April 19. The burglar(s) smashed the car's rear driver's side window.

The Beach Reporter – April 24, 2003

Crime Watch (4/24) - Hermosa Beach

OFFICE MAYHEM. Two women and two men reportedly assaulted a women and broke down a door in a law office in the 2200 block of Pacific Coast Highway April 15 at 3:07 p.m. According to police, one of the female suspects called the law firm to request a copy of her paperwork for her divorce. One of the victims told her the paperwork was at the Anaheim office. The woman then told the victim she was coming over and that her paperwork better be there. The woman arrived with another female who accompanied her into the office, and two males who waited outside. When the woman didn't receive her paperwork, she began to yell profanities at the two women. The women told her to leave and that they would call police. One of the suspects threatened one of the victims and attempted to tip over a desk. The suspect then left the room following one of the victims out while the other suspect stayed with the second victim who locked the door and waited for police. The two men and the woman broke down the locked door and pushed the second victim against the wall to get their friend before police arrived.

FAKE DIAMOND. A woman was reportedly involved in a scam by two men who sold her a cubic zirconium passing it off as a real diamond in the 700 block of Pier Avenue April 8 at 10:30 a.m. The two men approached the victim and asked her if she knew of a jewelry store in the area. One of the men then showed her a diamond ring and told the women he wanted to get rid of it before he returned to San Francisco. He told her it was worth $15,000, but not to call police because they would have thought it was stolen. He told her he would sell it to her for $4,000. The victim then called her husband who brought her the money. The next day the victim took the ring to a jewelry store where the employee told her the diamond was a cubic zirconium and had no value.

CAR BURGLARY. A 2001 Ford Explorer parked in the 2600 block of Pacific Coast Highway was reportedly burglarized April 7 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7:10 p.m. The burglar stole a bag, jewelry and clothing valued at $750.

MUSIC EQUIPMENT THEFT. A 1996 Ford Ranger was reportedly burglarized in the 2000 block of Prospect between 7 p.m. April 10 and 9 a.m. April 11. The burglar(s) took off with a keyboard, a digital piano, an amp, cables and a pedal left unsecured in the back of the pickup's bed. The equipment is valued at about $1,900.

BUMPER CARS. A man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence in the 400 block of Pier Avenue April 14 at 2:28 a.m. According to police, a man inside a Honda Accord was parked near 10th Street and Hermosa Avenue when a taxi driver walked over and asked him if he was lost. The driver described the suspect as looking confused. The suspect then yelled derogatory remarks at the victim and a verbal argument arose. The victim eventually drove away and made a U-turn. The suspect followed him and rammed into him twice from behind with his car. The driver then drove up to a gas station on PCH and the suspect hit him again with his car. The suspect then followed him onto Aviation Boulevard and eventually made a U-turn. The cab driver followed the man to the 400 block of Pier Avenue while calling 911. The man then saw the victim parked near him on Pier Avenue, picked up a metal club and began walking toward the victim. Several people intervened and police arrived shortly after.

Crime Watch (4/17) - Hermosa Beach

HOME BURGLARY. A home in the 100 block of Hermosa Avenue was reportedly burglarized March 24 between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. According to police, the victim came home to find his front door slightly ajar. The burglar(s) ransacked his dresser and stole several items including an X-Box, video games and a watch. Police believe the burglar pried the door open.

VANDALISM. A car parked in the 600 block of 24th Place was reportedly vandalized between 9 p.m. March 22 and 10 a.m. March 23. The vandal(s) threw a beer bottle at the car's windshield and cracked it. The estimated damage is $400.

CAR BURGLARIZED. A car parked in the 3200 block of Highland Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 9 p.m. March 24 and 7 a.m. March 25. The burglar broke into the car through an unlocked door and stole a backpack, a purse and various credit cards valued at $250.

BIKE STOLEN. A bike inside a community garage located in the first block of 15th Street was reportedly stolen Dec. 30 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. The victim reported the crime March 22. The bike is valued at $250.

STORAGE ROOM BURGLARIZED. A storage room inside a garage located in the 100 block of 34th Street was burglarized March 1 between the hours of 6 and 10 a.m. The burglar(s) stole various items including a scooter, two wetsuits, in-line skates, water skis and several volleyballs. The stolen items are valued at about $2,300.

Crime Watch (4/10) - Hermosa Beach

IDENTITY THEFT. The personal information of a woman living in Hermosa Beach was reportedly used to open a phone account in the city of Los Angeles. The suspect(s) opened an account with SBC and charged a balance of $1,555. The victim discovered the charge after checking her credit to apply for a home loan.

VANDALISM. A 1998 Honda Accord parked in a carport in the first block of First Street was reportedly vandalized between midnight March 22 and 1 a.m. March 23. The suspect(s) used a tool to make deep marks in the car. The damage is estimated at $1,000.

GRAND THEFT. A car parked in the 200 block of 24th Street was reportedly burglarized between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m. March 24. The suspect(s) stole several items from the unlocked car valued at $400.

CAR BURGLARY. A convertible Ford Mustang parked in the 200 block of 27th Street was reportedly burglarized at 5:30 p.m. March 22. A neighbor witnessed a man take a suitcase filled with clothes and DVDs from the car.

Crime Watch (4/3) - Hermosa Beach

PURSE STOLEN. A purse containing a 1-carat diamond ring was reportedly stolen from a bar located on the pier plaza between 11 p.m. Dec. 27 and 2 a.m. Dec. 28. According to police, the victim reported the crime March 17 for insurance of the ring valued at $2,200. The purse was stolen while the victim was dancing.

FILM THEFT. A truck parked in the 400 block of Herondo Street was reportedly burglarized between 6 p.m. March 16 and 8 a.m. March 17. The burglar(s) stole eight boxes of window tinting film left in the garage and in the bed of the truck.

KEYBOARD SCAM. A man was reportedly swindled out of some money after attempting to purchase a keyboard online. According to police, the man wanted to buy a keyboard through a retail Web site and the sales person insisted on involving what he called a mediator for the exchange. The sales person gave the victim the mediator's e-mail address. The victim wired the money totaling close to $1,700 but never received his purchase. He then called Western Union and a customer service representative told him the wire was received. The man then tried contacting both suspects to no avail.

CD THEFT. A car parked in the 900 block of Hermosa Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 9:30 p.m. March 15 and 10 a.m. March 16. The burglar(s) broke into the car and stole about 15 CDs.

STOLEN CHECKS. A car parked in the 700 block of Second Street was reportedly burglarized in late November. The victim reported the crime March 19. The suspect(s) stole a box of checks out of the unlocked car that has since been canceled.

PETTY THEFT. Two women reportedly walked into a store in the 700 block of Pier Avenue and stole razor blades March 18 at 8 p.m.

ARSON. The handball courts of a school located in the 1100 block of Valley Drive were reportedly the site of arson between 4 p.m. March 20 and 6:30 a.m. March 21. A school employee found remnants of glass and gasoline-soaked rags on the courts which sustained minor damage.

CAR DOOR KICKED. A woman reportedly kicked the driver's side door of a car parked in the 100 block of Pier Avenue March 15 at 7:08 p.m. The victim told police she parked her car and walked across the street where she apparently cut off the suspect. The suspect then got angry and kicked the car door.

GARAGE BURGLARY. A garage in the 900 block of Bayview Drive was reportedly burglarized between 4:30 p.m. March 20 and 8 a.m. March 21. The suspect(s) stole a set of tools from the location.

CELL PHONE THEFT. Five cellular phones were reportedly stolen from a store in the 1700 block of Pacific Coast Highway March 12 at 4:27 p.m. According to police, the suspects entered a store where the five phones were on display. They then stole them while the salesman stepped out of the showroom. The total value of the phones is about $1,100.

Crime Watch 3/20 - Hermosa Beach

IDENTITY THEFT. An unknown suspect reportedly used the personal information of a person living in the 400 block of Longfellow Avenue to open a cellular phone account with Sprint from Nov. 23 to March 17. The victim, who tried to refinance his house, found an outstanding charge on his credit report from the phone company in the amount of $412.

IDENTITY THEFT. An unknown suspect reportedly used the personal information of a person living in the 600 block of Fourth Street to open a cellular phone account with Sprint between January and July of 2002. The victim reported the crime March 10 after discovering an outstanding bill on his credit report. The suspect charged $852 to the account.

BALCONY JUMP. A man reportedly jumped from a second-story balcony after being confronted by a man living in the house located in the 1100 block of Loma Drive he was attempting to burglarize March 12 at 8:20 p.m. According to police, the burglar scaled the wall and climbed over the balcony. The victim, who was using his computer, heard his sliding glass door open and found the burglar trying to break into his home. The suspect then looked up, saw the victim, jumped off the balcony and ran onto Sunset Drive.

RANSACKED CAR. An unlocked car parked in an underground garage in the 400 block of 11th Street was reportedly ransacked between 9 p.m. March 12 and 7:30 a.m. March 13. The burglar broke into the car and ransacked the car, but stole nothing.

CAR BURGLARY. A car parked in the 600 block of Longfellow Avenue was reportedly burglarized between noon March 9 and 6:30 a.m. March 10. The burglar forced the driver's side window down and stole a car stereo, CDs and several other items totaling about $390.

Crime Watch 3/13 - Hermosa Beach

CAR BURGLARY. A 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier was reportedly burglarized between 6 p.m. Feb. 23 and 7:15 a.m. Feb. 24 in the 400 block of Herondo Street. The owner returned to the car to find it ransacked. The burglar stole a suitcase filled with 20 dental models worth $10,000 and a case of CDs valued at $500.

BOOZE THEFT. A man reportedly stole an unknown amount of alcohol from a store in the 1100 block of Pacific Coast Highway March 1 at 4:47 p.m.

HOUSE BURGLARY. A home in the 700 block of Eighth Street was reportedly burglarized March 5 between the hours of noon and 8 p.m. The burglar(s) stole two Sony Play Stations, 15 video games, five DVDs, one ring and cash, all valued at more than $2,500.

QUARTERS STOLEN. A car parked at a dealership in the 2900 block of Pacific Coast Highway was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. Feb. 20 and 11:30 a.m. March 4. The victim told police he took his car to the dealership for service with $1,800 worth of quarters in the trunk. A week later, the victim called the dealership to advise them to lock the car because of the quarters and at this time the employees could not find the quarters.

35TH STREET FIGHT. A man was reportedly hit by another man March 9 at 3:50 a.m. near the corner of 35th Street and Hermosa Avenue. The victim told police he and his friends were standing on the corner waiting for a taxi when they began talking to a group of men inside a nearby home. The victim was then hit in the face and hit several more times while he lay on the ground. The victim had no idea if he had been hit by a person or with an object. The suspect then fled the scene. Police believe the suspect is friends with the men living at the nearby house after they questioned them and they acted suspicious. The victim suffered two lacerations, one on his upper and one on his lower lip along with a tooth knocked loose.

Crime Watch, 3/6 - Hermosa Beach

BRANDISHING A HANDGUN. A man reportedly brandished a handgun to several people inside a car stopped at the corner of Pier and Hermosa avenues at 8 p.m. Feb. 25. According to the three witnesses visiting from England, a man pointed a handgun at the occupants of a burgundy minivan or SUV while it was stopped at the intersection. The occupants yelled at the suspect who then opened the passenger side door and pointed the gun. The witnesses had been drinking and police received no report of such an incident from the victims.

FAST-FOOD ROBBERY. A man reportedly robbed a fast-food establishment in the 1100 block of Aviation Boulevard Feb. 22 at 6:50 p.m. According to witnesses, the suspect entered the establishment, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the safe. The employees could not open the safe and so the robber stole $100 from the cash register.

SKATEBOARD ASSAULT. A man was arrested for hitting another man in the head with a skateboard in the 1300 block of Pacific Coast Highway Feb. 22 between 6 and 6:15 p.m. According to witnesses, the suspect exchanged words with the victim, hit him in the head and then fled the scene. Police later found the man and arrested him.

HOUSE ASSAULT. A man reportedly hit another man inside his home in the first block of 20th Court Feb. 22 at 3:05 a.m. The suspect told police he was entertaining guests at his home when the victim walked in. The suspect told the victim to leave who refused. The victim then tried to attack the suspect, who then hit him in the face. According to the victim, he arrived at the home to pick up a friend who invited him inside. The suspect told the victim to leave and then hit him in the face. The victim then called police.

DOWNTOWN ASSAULT. A man reportedly assaulted a woman in the 1200 block of Hermosa Avenue Feb. 22 at 2:49 a.m. According to police, the victim and her friends were drinking at a club, and they encountered the suspect and his friends at a nearby parking garage. The suspect and his friends tried talking to the women who ignored them. The suspect and the victim exchanged words. Approximately five minutes later, the suspect jumped out of an older model Jeep Cherokee in front of a coffee shop on Hermosa Avenue and grabbed the victim from behind. He pushed her to the ground. Police arrived, and the woman was bleeding from her face and sustained a black eye.

WALLET STOLEN. A wallet was reportedly stolen from a business in the 500 block of Pier Avenue between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Feb. 12. The women told police she arrived at work and put her purse down next to her desk. She eventually noticed her wallet missing.

SURFBOARD STOLEN. A surfboard and its bag were reportedly stolen between 6 p.m. Feb. 15 and 8 a.m. Feb. 16 from a 1994 Toyota truck parked in the 500 block of Herondo Street. According to police, the victim left both items unsecured in his truck. The items are valued at $550.

MOBILE HOME VANDALISM. A mobile home in the 700 block of 10th Street was reportedly vandalized Feb. 12 at 1:04 a.m. According to police, the suspect, who is a friend of the victim, showed up at his home. She wanted to talk to the victim but he refused and told her to leave. The victim thought the suspect was intoxicated. The suspect then began breaking the victim's windows to his home. The damage is estimated at $200.

DVD PLAYER STOLEN. A home in the 700 block of 21st Street was reportedly burglarized between the hours of 8:20 a.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 20. The burglar(s) stole a Sony DVD player and a video game, all worth $400.

CASH STOLEN. A home in the 300 block of The Strand was reportedly burglarized Feb. 13 between 9 and 11 a.m. According to police, the victim's girlfriend from Las Vegas was visiting him when his cleaning crew arrived. She had placed a pair of blue jeans containing $64 in cash in her boyfriend's closet. She later discovered the money missing and questioned the cleaning crew who didn't understand her because they only spoke Spanish. The boyfriend told officers he hired the company more than a year ago and it's not the first time things have gone missing.

Crime Watch (2/20) - Hermosa Beach

OPEN HOUSE BURGLARY. A house up for sale in the 2900 block of Hermosa View Drive was reportedly burglarized between Feb. 1 at noon and Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. The victim's real estate agent hosted an open house and the victim was not present the entire time. He discovered his checkbook missing which contained four checks written out to him for a total of $7,500, $200 in cash, and season tickets to the Los Angeles Lakers and Kings games.

KEYBOARD STOLEN. A Yamaha keyboard was reportedly stolen out of a driveway in the 500 block of 30th Street Feb. 9 between noon and 12:30 p.m. The victim told police she was in the process of moving and placed her keyboard on her driveway. Two men in a tan van approached her and asked her if she wanted to sell it or any other electronic equipment. The women offered the keyboard for $150 but they declined. The victim later left her house to run some errands and left the keyboard along with a few other items on her driveway. The victim's neighbor saw the tan van parked outside the victim's driveway and saw two men loading items into their van. She told them it wasn't a garage sale, and they put back a vacuum cleaner and fled the scene with the keyboard. It was valued at $1,000.

COMPUTER THEFT. A laptop computer was reportedly stolen from a home in the 2400 block of Ozone Court Sept. 16. The man reported the crime to police Feb. 12. According to the victim, Airborne Express delivered a new IBM Thinkpad to his house, but he never received it or signed for it. He called the company Sept. 20 and is now filing a stolen report with the delivery service. The computer is valued at about $2,500.

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY. Two men reportedly robbed a man in his home located in the 900 block of 13th Street Feb. 9 at 11:16 p.m. According to the victim, a man knocked on his door and said his name was "Josh." The victim did not recognize the suspect, locked his front door and told him to leave. The suspect then said, "I'm not leaving, so you better let me in or I'll break your door down." The suspect finally knocked down the door, and began hitting and kicking the suspect while another suspect ransacked his living room. The second suspect put a hard drive, a microphone and some electric cords into a suitcase and told the other suspect he "got it." The suspects stole about $1,000 worth of electronic equipment.

SCHOOL VANDALISM. A bathroom door and two classroom doors were reportedly vandalized at a private school on Massey Avenue between 5 p.m. Feb. 12 and 7 a.m. Feb. 13. The vandal(s) carved obscenities into the wood doors with a sharp object. The cost to fix the damage is about $500.

Crime Watch (2/13) - Hermosa Beach

GROCERY STORE THEFT. A man was reportedly detained by police after stealing a shopping cart full of groceries from a store in the 700 block of Pier Avenue Feb. 6 at 4:54 p.m. Officers stopped the suspect after a store employee saw him leave the store with a cart full of unbagged goods. The employee watched the man put the groceries into his car, and wrote down his license plate number and a description of the car. The man stole a total of $662 in goods.

IDENTITY THEFT. A man's personal information was used illegally to purchase a Dell computer Jan. 2. The victim, who lives in the 700 block of Longfellow Avenue, reported the crime Feb. 2. He told police he received a statement in the mail from Dell with a balance of more than $1,800.

JEEP CHEROKEE THEFT. A 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee was reportedly burglarized between 7 p.m. Jan. 29 and 8 a.m. Jan. 30. The man left his car unlocked and the burglar(s) stole a set of four tickets to four different Los Angeles Lakers games scheduled in the months of February and March.

BATTERY. A man hit another man in the face Jan. 24 at 1:40 a.m. on a patio of a bar located on the pier plaza. According to police, the victim said hello to the suspect's girlfriend and the two men got into a verbal argument. The victim walked away and the suspect then hit him on the side of the face. The bouncer threw both men out of the bar.

LONGFELLOW BURGLARY. A personal computer was reportedly stolen from a garage in the 600 block of Longfellow Avenue between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 8 a.m. Feb. 1.

Crime Watch (2/6) - Hermosa Beach

BACKPACK STOLEN. A person was arrested for stealing a backpack from a local surf shop located on the pier plaza Jan. 30 at 3:40 p.m. The item is worth $50.

CREDIT CARDS STOLEN. A wallet was reportedly stolen from a bar on the pier plaza Jan. 23 at 11 p.m. The victim left her wallet unattended, and the suspect stole the wallet and used two credit cards at various retail stores.

CAR BURGLARIZED. A car parked in the 500 block of Longfellow Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 6 p.m. Jan. 29 and 1:30 a.m. Jan. 30. The burglar stole a camera and several other items worth about $290.

BOTTLE INJURY. A man was arrested for reportedly assaulting another man with a beer bottle Jan. 27 at 12:18 a.m. in the 2600 block of Hermosa Avenue. According to police, the suspect harassed the victim and his two friends. The suspect then began throwing rocks at them and hit the victim on the hand with a bottle.

BAR FIGHT. A man was arrested for reportedly attacking another man outside a bar in the 1300 block of Manhattan Avenue Jan. 25 at 1:22 a.m. According to police, the suspect attacked the victim after his friend grabbed him from behind. The suspect kicked the victim in the face and the head causing serious injuries. Police arrested the man and booked his boots with blood on them into evidence.

Crime Watch (1/30) - Hermosa Beach

SNOWBOARD STOLEN. A snowboard was reportedly stolen out of a garage between 5 a.m. Jan. 18 and 11:23 p.m. Jan. 23. According to police, the victim went out of town and left a door to her garage unlocked. The snowboard is worth $550.

PETTY THEFT. A man was arrested for reportedly stealing two bottles of liquor from a store located at 1100 Pacific Coast Highway Jan. 22 at 4:05 p.m. According to police, the suspect stole two bottles of tequila worth about $71. Police saw the suspect who matched the description of the thief and stopped him. Officers found the two bottles and the manager of the store positively identified the man. Officers arrested him and later discovered he had a felony warrant out for his arrest in the city of Burbank.

JEWELRY STOLEN. A pouch of jewelry was reportedly stolen from a home in the 1500 block of Golden Avenue between 2 p.m. Dec. 2 and 7:15 p.m. Jan. 12. The victim told police she hid a pouch of jewelry inside a cabinet in her upstairs bathroom and only her husband knew about the location. The victim believes one of her son's friends may have stolen the items consisting of two pairs of earrings, two necklaces, a bracelet and a watch totaling approximately $46,000.

HANDGUN THEFT. A Rossi .38-caliber handgun was reportedly stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 2700 block of Pacific Coast Highway between 5 p.m. Jan. 3 and 1:30 a.m. Jan. 4. The victim, who works as a pizza deliveryman, stores the handgun in his glove compartment and keeps the bullets under the seat. The handgun was not loaded.

KNIFE ATTACK. A man reportedly tried to rob a man of his walking cane and then stabbed him in the shoulder in the 800 block of 14th Street Jan. 20 at 6:20 a.m. According to police, the victim and his two friends were at a party in Redondo Beach and then left for Hermosa Beach. The victim told police he was "hanging out" when the suspect walked up to him and demanded his walking cane. The victim refused and then stabbed him. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and the suspect is still at large.

Crime Watch (1/23) - Hermosa Beach

BAR ASSAULT. A man reportedly hit another man in the face in a bar located in the 1300 block of Hermosa Avenue Jan. 4 at 7:15 p.m. According to police, the suspect is an acquaintance of the victim and his wife. He saw them at the bar, and began to talk with the victim's wife and touch her. The victim told him to stop touching his wife and to go away. The suspect then hit the victim above the right eye.

BOTTLE ASSAULT. A man was reportedly hit several times by another man with a glass bottle concealed in a brown paper bag Jan. 1 at 3 a.m. in the 1300 block of Hermosa Avenue. Officers questioned the victim at Martin Luther King hospital. The suspect hit the victim several times and ran away while one of the victim's friends transported him to the hospital. The victim received care for a laceration to the left ear and doctors said he was still intoxicated at the time of treatment.

BANK ROBBERY. A man reportedly robbed a bank in the 1100 block of Pacific Coast Highway Jan. 10 at 2:15 p.m. The suspect walked up to a teller and demanded money out of his drawer. The teller have him $1s, $10s and $20s. The robber then asked for larger bills and the teller told him he had none. The robber then left the bank and is still at large.

BRIEFCASE THEFT. A briefcase containing $20,000 was reportedly stolen from a car parked at the first block of 16th Street between 11:55 p.m. Jan. 12 and 12:05 a.m. Jan. 13. The victim and his girlfriend parked his car in the alley next to his home to unload several items from it. The suspect reached inside and stole the briefcase. Police were near the scene of the crime conducting another investigation where they arrested several men for the possession and sale of drugs. Officers found the briefcase and the cash in their house and returned it to the victim.

BAR ASSAULT. A woman was reportedly assaulted by a man in a bar on pier plaza Jan. 11 at 12:23 a.m. According to police, the victim was waiting in the bar's hallway to use the restroom when the suspect who was standing behind her began to talk to her. The man, who reportedly is married and an employee of the bar, leaned in to kiss the married woman who pushed him away. They exchanged words, and the man then grabbed the woman by the neck and pushed her head into the wall. The suspect told police the woman was very friendly and she got upset when he tried to kiss her. He claimed he did not push her. The suspect also said he let the victim inside the bar through the VIP line on several occasions and he felt she owed him for his special treatment. The woman sustained an injury to her cheek.

Crime Watch (1/16) - Hermosa Beach

BUSINESS BURGLARY. A business in the 1200 block of Hermosa Avenue was reportedly vandalized between 5 p.m. Dec. 31 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 2. The vandal etched letters and numbers into a glass window. The damage is estimated at $1,500.

PURSE THEFT. A purse was reportedly stolen from a bar located on the pier plaza Dec. 31 at 1:40 a.m. The victim set her purse down on the bar counter to dance with her friends and returned minutes later to find it missing. The victim later found the purse at 1:55 a.m. and the thief had stolen her wallet, credit cards and two cellular phones worth $700.

PURSE THEFT. A purse was reportedly stolen from a bar patio on the pier plaza Dec. 14 at 1:45 a.m. The victim was sitting outside on the bar's patio when two men approached her. The men both have heavy Italian accents. The woman turned away for a moment, and both the men and her purse were gone. The doorman later found it but the suspects had stolen two bracelets and a cellular phone, all worth $550.

CONVERTIBLE TOP CUT. An unknown person reportedly cut the top of a convertible 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse parked in the 800 block of 19th Street Dec. 19 between midnight and 6:30 a.m. The victim parked his car in his girlfriend's driveway. Nothing was taken from the car.

CAR BURGLARY. A 1990 Mitsubishi Montero parked in the 1200 block of Ninth Street was reportedly burglarized Dec. 14 between 7:45 and 9 a.m. The burglar stole a pair of board shorts and money both totaling $90.

Crime Watch (1/9) - Hermosa Beach

2002 KNOCKOUT. A man reportedly hit another man in the face with a closed fist, knocking him unconscious in the 200 block of Pier Avenue Dec. 28 at 2:13 a.m. According to police, the man and his friend were walking east on Pier Avenue from the downtown area. The victim's friend stopped to talk to a friend as the victim kept on walking. Two men approached him and one of the men hit him. The man suffered a cut above his swollen right eye.

JEWELRY BURGLARY. A home in Hermosa Beach was reportedly burglarized between 3 p.m. Dec. 23 and 10:35 a.m. Dec. 27. According to police, the burglar may have broken into the home through the front door left unlocked. The suspect stole two watches, two necklaces, a 12-piece silver table setting and several other items all worth more than $2,400.

CAR BURGLARY. A 1998 Dodge Durango parked in the 2000 block of Monterey Boulevard was reportedly burglarized Dec. 29 between 12:30 and 3:45 a.m. According to police, the burglar smashed one of the car's windows and stole a golf bag filled with clubs worth about $1,200.

DOWNTOWN FIGHT. A man reportedly hit another man in the face near the corner of Pier and Hermosa avenues Dec. 24 at 2 a.m. According to a witness, the victim said something to the suspect that may have offended him who then hit the victim knocking him to the ground. Paramedics advised the victim to go to the hospital because he might have had a concussion but he refused medical attention.

DOWNTOWN MAYHEM. A man was arrested in the 1300 block of Hermosa Avenue for damaging a police car and refusing to disperse during a riot Dec. 29 at 1:20 a.m. According to police, the man was in custody for failing to disperse at the scene of a riot and damaged a patrol car window while being detained in the back seat. He ignored police orders and remained involved in a fight consisting of more than 30 people.

Crime Watch (1/3) - Hermosa Beach

CAR THEFT. A car parked on 31st Place was reportedly burglarized between the hours of noon and 5 p.m. Dec. 13. The burglar entered the unlocked vehicle and stole several items inside.

IDENTITY THEFT. An unknown person used a credit card of a resident living in the 700 block of 24th Street to buy merchandise inside several retail stores Dec. 17. The victim told police the card was never stolen or lost and so officers believe the suspect must have used a fake duplicate to purchase goods illegally.

TERRORIST THREATS. A man reportedly made threatening phone calls to a couple living in the 1800 block of Pacific Coast Highway since June of this year. The incidents were reported Dec. 16. Both victims know the suspect and claim he suffers from schizophrenia. The suspect last called the victims Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. and threatened to kill them.

SHED BURGLARY. A locked shed sitting in an underground parking garage in the 100 block of Herondo Street was reportedly burglarized Dec. 12 between 6 and 10:30 p.m. The burglar used bolt cutters to break into the shed and steal a freestanding house fan.
