Hi Jeff,

The Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Association will be sponsoring a Hermosa Beach City Council candidate’s forum on Thursday, May 25^th, 2006 at the Hermosa Beach City Council chambers from 7 pm to 9pm.

All Hermosa Beach City Council candidates in the June 6, 2006 election are being invited to participate in this city council candidate’s forum.

Only the four Hermosa Beach City Council candidates will be allowed to participate in the candidate’s forum. You can not use a second or a stand-in, if you can not attend the candidate’s forum.

I will be e-mailing you a more detailed outline of the candidate’s forum, later this week.

If you have not already done so, I am asking that each city council candidate go on a Hermosa Beach Police Department ride-along on a Friday or Saturday night, from around 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. You can call the HBPD to set this up.

You may have already done a HBPD ride-along.

Please contact me if you can or can not attend this Hermosa Beach City Council candidate’s forum.

I e-mailed Hermosa Beach City Manager Steve Burrell to request the Hermosa Beach City Council Chambers for May 25th, 2006.

Steve called be back and said the HBNA will be able to use the Hermosa Beach City Council Chambers on May 25th, 2006 for a candidate’s forum.

The Hermosa Beach Neighborhood Association will sponsor a City Council candidate’s forum on Thursday, May 25th, 2006.

This candidate’s forum will take place in the Hermosa Beach City Council Chambers, 1315 Valley Dr. from 7p.m. to 9 p.m.

All Hermosa Beach residents and members of the public are invited to attend this candidate’s forum.

Crime, Public Safety and Quality of Life Issues in Hermosa Beach will be among the topics addressed by each city council candidate.

The future of residential and commercial development in Hermosa Beach will also be discussed.

Mr. Benson,

First, let me say that I know all of the candidates for City Council share

your concerns about the status of public safety in Hermosa Beach. We also

all appreciate your interest in the subject and the work you do to keep it

in the public eye.

And although these are important issues that are near and dear to all of

us, unfortunately, it does not appear that I will be able to participate in

tonight's forum.

Again, thank you for taking such an active role in the community, and I all

look forward to working with you again in the future.

Al,

I also, regrettably, will be unable to attend. I appreciate all of the work you do to provide important information on this issue, as well. My hope is to sit down with you and review the material that you have provided. Also please note that I will be riding along with our Police Department this Saturday evening (Memorial holiday weekend). I did this during the November election on a typical Friday night and wanted to observed during a major holiday.
